A hat-trick for Mahrez and a Hi -5 to the visitors
The pitch was in fantastic condition at the Etihad and the players really enjoyed the surface which was tilted to one end. Manchester city was in full control of the ball with a fine display of the game that deserved them a win.
The citizens earned an early goal in the 6th minute after Kevin De Bruyne’s through pass was netted by Riyad Mahrez.
Mahrez was at it again in the 22nd minute after dribbling past the Burnley defense making it 2-0
Pep Guardiola’s boys displayed their prowess and purpose to score more in the first half. Their desires were fulfilled with an additional goal from Benjamin Mendy in the 41st minute from a wonderful cross delivered by Kevin De Bruyne. The first half ended with a 3-0 advantage to the citizens.
The second second half was entertaining and the citizens pursuit to glory was enhanced by a 66th minute goal from Ferran Torres with Gabriel Jesus giving him the killer pass.
Riyad Mahrez made sure that the visitors will remember him with his first Manchester city’s hat-trick that was headed in the 69th minute from a cross that was delivered by Phil Foden.
Man city was denied a chance to make it 6-0 after their 75th minute goal was revoked by VAR due to offside. Bailey Peacock-Farrell would have been on the score sheet for an own goal as if the ones that went past him were not enough.
Burnley’s push to get a consolation goal did not materialize because the citizens defense was solid and denied them the chance.
The result left the visitor in the 18th position with 5 points from 9 matches. On the side the citizens went up to position 8 with 15 points from the 9 matches they have played.
