In a nut shell, the red devil’s investment paid off with the saints conversion from their first half lead to the second half defeat courtesy of Edison Cavani who came in a substitute and contributed to the three second half goals for Manchester United.

Southampton had a 2-0 advantage in the first half that never materialized to a win. James Ward-Prowse was involved in both goals for the saints. The first goal came in from a corner delivered by James Ward-Prowse in the 23rd minute and headed in by Jan Bednarek .

Later on in the 33rd minute the saints were awarded a free kick after Moussa Djenepo was tripped by Fred of Manchester United. James Ward-Prowse curled in the free kick past David De Gea to make it 2-0.

The red devils had chances to be on the score sheet in the first half with notable efforts from Mason Greenwood.

The second half started with two changes from Ole Gunnar’s side. David De Gea was replaced by Dean Henderson after De Gea got injured. Another tactical substitution was done to replace Mason Greenwood with Edinson Cavani.

The red devils got their first chance to count a goal in the 59th minute after Edinson Cavani curved in a cross that was scored by Bruno Fernandes. Edinson gave the red devils their equalizing goal in the 74th minute after heading in a superb goal.

The mastery of Cavani did not stop till the dying minutes of the game when he headed the red devils to glory from a cross delivered by Marcus Rashford in the 93rd minute.

The away win gave Manchester United a boost on the EPL to position 8 with 16 points from 9 games. The saints remained on 6th position with 17 points from 10 games played.
