PSG vs Istanbul Basaksehir Match Abandoned Due to Racist Remarks

The group H match which was being played in Paris, France was abandoned in the 23rd minute when players from both sides walked of the pitch in protest.

The incident started 14 minutes into the match when the fourth official showed a red card to Pierre Webo who is the assistant manager of Istanbul Basaksehir. The former Cameroon striker accused the fourth official of racial utterances

Basaksehir twitted a message on their Twitter account: “NO TO RACISM #Respect.”
Video footage also showed Basaksehir striker Demba Ba who was on the reserves bench protesting the act with the fourth official, on the touch line.

In a statement, the governing body UEFA said that the match was suspended and after discussion with both clubs it was decided on an exceptional basis to have the remaining minutes of the match be played tomorrow ( Wednesday, 9th December 2020) with a new team of match officials.
UEFA assured that a thorough investigation on the incident that took place will be opened immediately.

PSG forward Kylian Mbappe tweeted: “Say no to racism. Webo we are with you.”
