The First premier league action of the year 2021 Between Everton and Westham where Randolph of Westham made his first appearance of the season and saw the return of James Rodriguez of Everton and Antonio of Westham. The match at Goodison Park started rather slow with both teams being too cautious.
There were no serious goal attempts in the better part of the first half, which had several off-target attempts from both teams. However, there was one notable attempt on target from Bernard of Everton towards the end of the first half with a power shot that was saved by Randolph. Both teams didn’t have the urgency or zeal to score in the first half, the first half ended in a barren draw.
The second half was a bit more active than the first half, both teams showed purpose to score with several chances created from both sides. A noteworthy moment for the hammers was when Ben Godfrey from Everton went a bit too pulling down Vladimir Coufal of Westham, the action gave the visitors a free-kick outside the box which was delivered by Aaron Cresswell, he shot straight to the goal but Pickford was alert to save it back into play. Antonio who came in as a substitute gave Westham United another attempt when he fired a shot straight at Everton’s keeper.
The magical moment for Westham came in the 86th minute, some action built up to the moment when Jordan Pickford of Everton saved a shot. Tomas Soucek found himself in a great scoring position but Jordan Pickford denied him with a great save. Another shot by Aaron Cresswell was blocked by Pickford only to find Tomas Soucek who scored giving his team the first goal of the year as well as the first premier league goal of the year 2021
The result saw Everton remain the 4th position; the home side had a chance of going to the 2nd position. Their points tally remain at 29. On the other side, the visitors’ victory increased their points tally to 26
