The second match of Game week 17 as well as the second match of the year 2021 of the English Premier League between Manchester United who were hosting Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
It was an entertaining match packed with action with both sides displaying their prowess and desire to win, but in every contest, there is usually a winner.
It was a thrilling first half that had so many chances of glory for the host, Martinez of Aston Villa was alert and saved most of the attacks for the Red Devils, however, a great dribble from Manchester united’s right back Aaron Wan- Bissaka appended by his superb cross to Anthony Martial who gave the red devils the lead from a splendid header a few minutes before half time. The first half ended on a Manchester united solitary goal lead.
The second half was promising for Aston Villa when they started positively with Matty Cash’s shot going over the crossbar and Ollie Watkins’s shot blocked by David De Gea. The visitors applied more pressure towards Manchester United’s goal, with a noteworthy effort from Anwar El Ghazi who fired off target. Their efforts were later rewarded by a goal when McGinn quickly took a free-kick to Grealish who delivered a great cross into the box that was converted into a goal by Traore making it 1-1.
The home side regained their lead a few minutes later after Paul Pogba was tripped inside the box by Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa to concede a penalty. VAR check affirmed the decision of penalty that was taken by Manchester united’s Playmaker Bruno Fernandes. Bruno Confirmed that he still has it when his shot went past Martinez to give United the lead which gave them the fourth victory of the season at Old Trafford.
A notable moment towards the end of the match; when a Keinan Davis effort to score was blocked by Eric Bailey, Ollie Watkins had put in a cross which was headed by Keinan toward the Manchester unite goal. The Match ended 2-1 in favor of the home side.
The result of the match elevated Manchester United to 33 points same as the league Liverpool. Aston Villa dropped a position to 6th with 26 points same as Chelsea who are on 5th, however, the visitors still have a game at hand.
