Sensational John McAfee Found Dead in Spanish Prison
According to his Lawyers, John McAfee was found dead on Wednesday 23rd June 2021 in a Prison cell in Barcelona, Spain. This incident came after a court in Spain had approved his extradition to the United States, where he was set to stand trial on tax evasion charges. McAfee was arrested in October 2020 in Spain over tax evasion charges. According to the U.S. federal prosecutors, McAfee had failed to pay income taxes for over four years i.e., from the year 2014 to the year 2018. McAfee had argued in a hearing earlier in June 2021 that the charges against him were politically instigated and if he was to return to the United States, he would spend the rest of his life in prison.
The computer programmer had deemed taxation to be illegal, this is according to one of his his tweets in 2019.
“I have not filed a tax return for 8 years. Why? 1: taxation is illegal. 2: I paid tens of millions already and received Jack Shit in services. 3. I’m done making money. I live off of cash from McAfee Inc. My net income is negative. But i am a prime target for the IRS. Here I am.”
The 75-year-old founded McAfee and Associates in 1987 which is known for its software – McAfee Antivirus. He ran the software company until 1994 when he resigned and sold his interests to Intel corporation. The computer programmer had disassociated the use of his name in the brand name of the software – McAfee Antivirus.
John McAfee was born in the United Kingdom (UK) in the year 1945. His family moved to the United States when he was still a child. He grew up in the state of Virginia in the U.S. McAfee earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1967 from Roanoke College, Virginia. He was the creator of a programme that is among the most-used virus protection programmes worldwide. He promoted the use of cryptocurrency. McAfee was also politically ambitious, and he eyed the top political seat in the United States. He unsuccessfully sought the Libertarian Party nomination for president of the United States in 2016 and 2020.
