Steven Gerrard who led Rangers to their first Scottish league title in 10 years last season has been appointed to lead Aston Villa to greater heights. The former Liverpool FC Skipper has been impressive in the Scottish league. Gerrard joined Ranger in the season 2018 -2019, signing a four-year deal. Under Gerrard’s management, Rangers went twelve matches unbeaten in all competitions during his first season. Notable result was the 2–0 win over Macedonian side Shkupi in the UEFA Europa League. During that season, Gerrard guided Rangers to their first win over Celtic since 2012.

During the 2020–21 season, Gerrard led Rangers through a record-breaking season. He not only guided them to a back-to-back derby win over rivals Celtic but also topped their group in the Europa League. Rangers won the Scottish Premiership title of 2020-2021 season without losing a single Scottish league match.

Aston Villa Struggles

Aston Villa have been struggling this season. They have managed only 3 wins out of the 11 games played this season. Their form has gone down compared to the previous season where they had won 6 matches out of 11 played. Aston Villa are currently at position 16 with 10 points. Last season they finished 11th with 55 points. Their struggles led to their head coach Dean Smith to be sacked after five successive Premier League defeats. Dean Smith was sacked in early November 2021.
