New MPESA Charges 2023
Safaricom announced New MPESA Charges 2023 which will be effective from 1st January 2023.
The New MPESA Charges 2023 will include a reduction in charges for paybill and business to customer tariffs.
Safaricom has made the changes in an effort to ensure affordability as well as to mitigate the prevailing economic challenges faced by their customers.

The New MPESA Charges 2023 have been structured to ensure alignment with the Central Bank of Kenya pricing principles on customer centricity; transparency and disclosure; fairness and equity; choice and competition as well as affordability.
In the new changes, Bank to MPESA charges have been reduced. The MPESA to Bank charges will also apply to all MPESA paybill payments that customers use for paying utility bills like government payments, electricity, water bills, hospital bills and such like payments. They have also reduced MPESA to Bank charges. Transactions below KES 100 remain zero rated.

In his speech, the Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said “In our role to continue supporting the economy and stimulating growth, we have
taken the initiative to reduce significantly our paybill and business to customer tariffs. This move reaffirms our commitment to support all our customers and enable them to cost effectively get along with their lives especially at this time when most Kenyans are experiencing hard economic times.”
