HOW TO MAKE KPLC PAYMENTS

PAYING YOUR ELECTRICITY BILL (K.P.L.C)

There are various convenient ways of paying for electricity. They include:

Paying Via M-Pesa (Paybill)

KPLC strongly encourage their customers to use the safaricom Mpesa paybill numbers 888888 and 888880 for postpaid and prepaid bill payments respectively. Kindly follow the instructions below to top up your electricty.

Paying your Postpaid Electricity Bill with M-Pesa (Safaricom)

  • Go to Mpesa Menu on your Safaricon Line, Select lipa na Mpesa, then select Pay Bill option 
  • Enter the Kenya Power business number 888 888 (Post Paid).
  • Enter your KPLC account number e.g. 123456.
  • Enter the amount you wish to pay which should be between KES. 100 and  KES 35,000.
  • Enter your M-PESA PIN.
  • Confirm that all details are correct.
  • You will receive confirmations of the transaction via SMS.

How to Buy KPLC Tokens via M-PESA Paybill Number 888880 (prepaid )

  • Go to Mpesa Menu on your Safaricon Line, Select lipa na Mpesa, then select Pay Bill option 
  • Enter the Kenya Power business number 888 880 (Pre Paid).
  • Then enter the Account no.“, Enter your KPLC Prepaid Meter Number (e.g. 0100 xxxx xxxx x) press “OK”
  • “Then enter the amount you wish to purchse, between KES100 and KES 35,000 and press “OK”
  • Enter your M-PESA PIN
  • Confirm all the details are correct.
  • You will receive confirmations of the transaction via SMS.
  • KPLC will then generate prepaid token valid for your meter and send via SMS.

Paying with Safaricom Bonga Points

  • Dial *126#
  • Select option 1 ( Lipa na Bonga Points )
  • Then select option 2 ( Pay Bill)
  • Then Enter the Business Number ( i.e KPLC prepaid or post paid business number 888 880  or 888 888  )
  • Then input the account Number ( KPLC meter number )
  • Then the amount you wish to settle with your bonga points Then you will be prompted to confirm the amount and the bonga points being deducted
  • Then input your service pin
  • You will then receive a messages to confirm the transaction if it was done successfully. The messages will be from KPLC acknowledging receipt of payment and from Safaricom indicating both your transaction and your Bonga points balance.

How to Buy Kenya Power (KPLC) Prepaid Tokens via Equitel

  • Select Eazzy Pay from your Equitel menu
  • Then Select Pay Bill from Eazzy Pay.
  • Choose the bank account number to pay from e.g.0123456789102
  • Select business number – KPLC Tokens
  • Enter your KPLC Prepaid Meter Number (e.g. 37168917674) press OK
  • Enter the amount you wish to pay which should be between Shs. 100 and Shs.500,000.
  • Enter your Equitel PIN and press OK
  • Confirm that all details are correct by pressing 1 OK
  • You will receive a text confirmation of the transaction from Equity bank.
  • KPLC will then generate prepaid token valid for your meter and send via SMS.1

NB: All payments are posted in your electricity account on the same day.

Paying your Electricity Bill with Equitel (Sim Tool Kit)

  • Select Eazzy Pay from your Equitel menu
  • Select Pay Bill from Eazzy Pay.
  • Choose the bank account number to pay from e.g.0123456789102
  • Select business number – KPLC Bills (Post Paid)
  • Enter your new Kenya Power meter number e.g. 2831172 or 3436980.
  • Enter the amount you wish to pay which should be between Shs.100 and Shs.500,000.
  • Enter your Equitel PIN and press OK
  • Confirm that all details are correct by pressing 1 OK.
  • You will receive a  text confirmation of the transaction from Equity bank.

NB: All payments are posted in your electricity account on the same day.

 
Over The counter Payments
Over the counter is another option to pay electricity bills by cash through all Equity Bank branches across the country and all payments will reflect in your electricity account on the same day.

Cash Payment

As a rule, all cash payments should be made at Kenya Power’s authorized pay points which are located within official premises and the paying counters clearly marked CASHIER.

ATM Payments

If you have an account with Co-operative Bank, Postbank or Standard Chartered Bank, you may also pay your bill through any of these banks’ Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs).

You may also pay your electricity bill by cash through appointed Co-operative Bank branches in Nairobi. Additionally, you can pay your electricity bill at any branch of the following Banks

Cheque Payments
Cheques may be deposited in designated boxes in pay centers and at specific business premises appointed by Kenya Power to serve as drop-off points.

Bill Payment Through M-Banking

If you are a Co-operative Bank customer, then your mobile phone is now an electricity bill payment point. To use the service, one must be registered with the bank for M-Banking service and also one must have registered their Kenya Power account number with the bank.
