Contracting and Procurement Manager: Job Purpose

The Contracting and Procurement Manager leads the Contracts and Procurement (CP) function in Namibia, Should be an innovative problem solver that ensures complete business alignment through visionary procurement, and strives for continuous improvement through the timeous delivery of quality and economical goods and services.

Role & Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supplier relationship management through deliberate supplier performance programs;
  • Development of procurement strategies;
  • Leading negotiations;
  • Sourcing with the aim to optimize procurement opportunities through supplier market reviews and assessment;
  • Delivering targets and value as aligned to the Country Business plan; and
  • Maximizing value from existing and new contracts.

Requirements

Job Knowledge, Skills/Competencies & Experiences:
  • C&P Professional with 3 years or more experience in a Supervisory Procurement function;
  • Demonstrates in-depth understanding of negotiations, procurement, and contract management procedures;
  • Proven ability to integrate operational CP processes in complex situations and bring change into working practices;
  • Ability to make decisions and execute with the support of stakeholders;
  • Ability to influence peers and lead cross-functional teams;
  • Technical expertise in contract/procurement administration systems;
  • Coordination & administration of the tender process;
  • Teamwork & Collaboration skills
  • Internal stakeholder management skills;
  • Problem-solving & Attention to detail;
  • Integrity, Confidentiality & Conflict management;
  • Well organized and able to manage competing priorities;
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong project management/leadership skills;
  • Commercial Finance knowledge and business acumen;
  • Strategic and “Out the Box” thinking;
  • MS Office knowledge; SAP knowledge would be an advantage;
  • A valid driver’s license; and
